Dig Social Change? Your Turn to Participate!

The NSEF Authors of Change program provides internship opportunities for students to work with social enterprises for a 2 month period, and participate first hand in the social revolution in India. The program has partnered with social ventures all over India, and is now accepting applications from students. This year, about 30 social enterprises have offered around 60 challenging roles.

MumbaiSmiles : A Fresh Approach to Addressing Urban Poverty

Mumbai Smiles is a non-profit organization based out of India, Spain and Mexico, focused on providing quality education, health services and livelihood opportunities for families living in the slums of Mumbai. The non-profit was born in 2005 when Spanish journalist and writer Jaume Sanllorente was on a holiday to Mumbai, India. His experience with the under-privileged inspired him to quit his job as a journalist, go back to university, and kick start Mumbai Smiles, in order to improve the living conditions of slum dwellers in the city of Mumbai. Why Mumbai Smiles are Unique Mumbai Smiles operates out of several of Mumbai’s lesser known slums in the suburb of Andheri. All their current efforts are focused around developing these few communities, so that children, as well as adults are benefited. In all activities, the community always provides input and feedback. TISS and NSEF Partner to Mentor Social Enterpreneurs

The National Social Entrepreneurship Forum (NSEF) is India’s premier student platform on social entrepreneurship. Its goal is to promote social entrepreneurship in universities across India. NSEF establishes student/volunteer run chapters at universities. Some of their activities include social enterprise workshops, business plan and blogging competitions, facilitating internships and mentoring youth led social ventures. The NSEF currently operates 10 University chapters including IIM Lucknow, IIT Kanpur, BITS-Pilani. NSEF partnership with TISS NSEF has partnered with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to launch a new NSEF local chapter in Mumbai. TISS was established in 1936 as the premier school of social work and research in India. The partnership with TISS allows NSEF to collaborate with TISS faculty, students and Alumni, many of whom are already subject matter experts in the field of social enterprise and development. Chapter Launch Conference NSEF and TISS have organized a half day conference to kick off the student chapter at Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai.
